At the Sign of the Crippled Harlequin

The Phoenix Amateur Drama Group in Petts Wood, Orpington is a happy, enthusiastic society, who welcome new members of any age and ability; whether on stage, working on the all-important back-stage tasks or socially.

We have two full productions a year, one in the Spring and one in the Autumn.  Additionally, we hold a Patrons Evening mid-summer at which members and Patrons are invited for a one act play, supper and a light-hearted quiz. This is event is a great opportunity for newcomers to try their hand at walking the boards or producing.  We also hold various social events throughout the year for our members and patrons.

The Phoenix Drama Group was founded in the summer of 1992 by a few ex-members of the long-established and well-respected Lynwood Players.  The name “Phoenix” was chosen for the group to indicate that the new group had risen from the ashes of the old group.  Our first production was “Look Who’s Talking” by Derek Benfield in April 1993.

We like to provide our audience with a variety of productions, from comedies and farces to dramas, thrillers and the classics.  For a small society and from such modest beginnings we have built up an impressive list of patrons and supporters and take pride in the professionalism of our productions.  We believe the measure of our success can be seen in our sell out performances.
